Can’t install Ghost Browser

Most of the time, installing Ghost Browser happens without any issues. However, if you click the installation file and nothing happens, or if there is a quick flash and then nothing, it’s most likely your firewall blocking the installation.

While you could simply turn your firewall while installing Ghost Browser, we don’t recommend this because your firewall will block future updates to Ghost Browser.

Allowing a firewall exception

Check with your firewall provider to find out how to let Ghost Browser through it. Depending on your firewall software, this process is usually known as “adding an exception” or “allowing an application.” Searching on these terms along with your name of your firewall provider should provide the solution you need.  

Adding an exception to Windows Defender

If you have Windows Defender installed on your PC, add Ghost Browser as an exception.

For Windows 7 or 8:

  1. Go to Start > Control Panel > System and Security > Windows Defender.
  2. Select Tools > Options > Excluded files and folders.
  3. Click Add. options.png
  4. Navigate to C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\GhostBrowser.
  5. Click OK.
  6. Click Save.

For Windows 10:

  1. Open Windows Defender Security Center.
  2. Select Virus & threat protection > Virus & threat protection settings > Add or remove exclusions.
  3. Click Add an exclusion and then select Folder.exclusions.png
  4. Navigate to C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\GhostBrowser.
  5. Click OK.
